Everyone learns this growing up. But how did we know how to tell stories visually? We learned by watching TV. This gave us the basic skills, but not enough to avoid being boring or confusing. Sometimes our films suffered from both problems. But we got better. 25 Things are very different today. Most families have camcorders, and you can buy two or three DV (digital video) tapes for about $9. Some camcorders have built-in hard drives that store hours of video. No more three-minute limits— they each last an hour and with full stereo sound.

If your audience is confused, they won’t be able to follow your story. A Fine Mess My first professional experience of storyboarding was on Disney’s Aladdin. I had storyboarded before, but this was different—this was the big time! I was given the scene where Aladdin is supposed to distract a merchant while his accomplice, Abu, his monkey, steals some food. I had the script, paper, and pencils.
